99% of people who want to make money from their audience forget these two things:
1) Does what you're selling work, and 2) Are you able to get people into taking action to actually get the results you promise? Here's how I make sure that happens:
1. You *tell clients* what to do - coaching, ebooks, etc
2. You *do it for* the clients
And the single best predictor of long term health of either is whether the service you sell works.
People think “telling people what to do” is easier as you’re not responsible for the results.
The problem with this is, you might have a perfect method to do whatever it is you sell
(How to run Facebook ads, how to get fit/lose weight, how to date better, etc)
But if you don’t know how to communicate that and make the client do the work,
They won’t do the work, and they’ll drop you.
Any business where you tell people what to do requires a set of hidden talents:
> Emotional intelligence to understand deeper reasons clients aren’t doing the work
> Understanding when to tell the client off/be firm VS scaring them off
> Understanding what a valid excuse is VS the client is being lazy
A *GREAT* service has people telling their friends to hire you.
When I was running a coaching/internet marketing/selling information biz (telling people what to do -I used to sell ebooks and do group coaching), I had to learn FAST how to get my clients into action so that they would actually do the work and get ther esults.
I never sold evergreen courses, only group coaching where I was directly involved with clients to make sure they did the work.
I collected up dozens of testimonials from clients happy with the results I brought out of them, but it was NOT as easy to make people do things as the gurus make out when they sell you their courses (lol)
You have to simplify A LOT, you have to be very positive to encourage them to get started, you have to tell them stories of other people in their position who did it and what great results they had.
You probably need to follow up to make sure people are taking action.
Once again, if you neglect these steps = no repeat customers, or customers who don’t buy your more expensive products/services.
5. The second type of services agency is the one I run now:
“We do the work for you”
In this model you are directly accountable for results for your client.
For example, my agency has created a near-bulletproof system for lowering FB/IG ad costs through building a relevant audience with short-form video content before we run the first conversion ad for a client.
This means our clients have a massive retargeting audience who know/like/trust them.
If we don’t get our clients cheaper top of funnel traffic, we send all their money back.
We haven’t seen many other agencies selling it (But we’re sure they will either try and clone our model or ask us to resell it, both are a compliment ha)
But my point here is, like with consulting, you need something that WORKS
Every week we post screenshots from our clients’ accounts - It is undeniable what we do.
If you are doing “done for you” work, this is ALL YOU NEED to grow clients.
Forget “psychological tricks to make your potential client warm to you” or “six-step process for converting a cold lead on a phone call”…
Between this and testimonials from clients, you can scale your company to the moon.
Anything else is spin.
