I’ve made over $100,000 growing social media pages for clients. Here's how I did it.
A cheatsheet for creating an agency service and scaling it. Here’s how I do it (and how you can too)
1. For agency clients, your audience needs to be quality over quantity.
Most influencers are broke (believe me, I hung out with the in L.A. - Not to flex but I’ve been to the Emmy’s twice, the grammies, partied at influencer mansions in L.A. everytime I’m in LA, attended by some of the biggest influencers in the world)
These influencers were often asking *me* to help me monetise them - I was like “err…I don’t even have that many followers, how comes you aren’t crushing it?!”
They have a broad audience, so harder for them to sell specific products/services.
The truth us:
It’s better to have 1,000 ideal followers which can become clients than 100,000+ followers who will never buy your stuff (this also is the “TikTok” problem - people join for the “entertainment” you do, but selling there is harder unless your content comes correct)
Your marketing and content should ATTRACT YOUR ideal client and repel everyone else.
What this means for you: Don’t do the “broad” stuff you see working on big pages.
Focus on your customer segment.
2) Pre-framing content & community management
This is how you turn followers into buyers.
Do you have the RIGHT content & strategy that makes followers believe:
1. You understand their niche/their world, you’re “one of them”
2. You post enough content so that they know you exist and see you often (even if they don’t engage)
3. You “go the extra mile” - responding and reacting to comments and DM’s fast
The number of business owners who don’t react/respond to commenters is pretty amazing.
It’s such a basic thing to do! /rant over lol
4) One of our clients sells clothing to women who are at college or who have attended college.
Most brands in this space do inspirational quotes, sharing the same entertainment news as everyone else does (“Taylor Swift is back and we are here for it!🥱”)
We curate short form videos that are super relevant t the audience, but most importantly are MADE BY THE SAME AUDIENCE.
It’s not some social media employee sitting in a room thinking about what they audience might like,
We repost the videos our audience is ACTUALLY making.
It could not be more relevant to them!
Here’s a screenshot of our results for them:
5) The effect of this is the audience knows/likes/trusts our clients’ brands very quickly.
This leads to high engagement, subscribers, and clicks to our client’s merch website as it’s all aligned.
The age of “making content that we *think* our clients will like” is over
With the model we use, we don’t need to guess, as they are making it for us.
Fun fact: For most niches, we don’t repost any video that has less than a million views.
At that point, it’s not luck, it’s science 🤌🏻
6) So we have super-relevant content.
If the content is not relevant, your audience will never buy from you.
So I grow my clients accounts using this method to ensure they get followers who will buy.
On the next slide I’ll talk you through the sales funnel I recommend for new businesses…
—
7) Your sales funnel starts with GETTING THE DAMN CLICK/DM from your audience.
> Post relevant short-form videos to grow the initial audience
> Have a low-friction “top of funnel” offer
If you’re a coach/consultant/service provider, some great “hooks” to get people off social media and into your world (i.e. no longer fighting the algorithm, getting them into an ecosystem you control)
> A free Facebook group
> A free lead magnet (Something short and valuable - my PDF is “The 7 secrets to using short-form video to grow your social media account WITHOUT making any content yourself” - They give them email or phone number to receive it
> A small offer e.g. an eBook for $7, with upsells for $37, $47 etc if they buy the first one
> A % discount on your ecommerce/shopify store for giving you their email or phone number
> “Dm me if you want my ebook” works well too, super low-friction way to start a conversation.
8) Next, the news business owners hate to hear:
> Most customers DO NOT buy on the first click.
> BUT once you’ve got that click from YouTube or wherever, you can drop a retargeting pixel on them,
And show them more ads - now they are MUCH more likely to buy
> You can “get started” by hustling without paid ads, but we strongly recommend it if you want to scale your business fast
In summary, growing your followers is a means to capturing their data (email/phone number) to contact them for free, or retargeting them with ads.
This is where and how followers turn into revenue for you :)
9) Most influencers (and business people) are not using the method I map out here.
Instead, they:
> Have to come up with new content ideas every day
> Are too stressed out from the “content grind” to talk to their community or work on their funnel/ads
> My method (that you can either do yourself, or pay us to do for you) is the fast train to follower growth and clients. Trust me, I tried it the other way too and in fact stopped posting on social media in 2018 for a while,
Thinking it was *impossible* to grow my account/get clients at scale.
This new “use short form video” method will take over the internet in the next year.
BUT in a years’ time it’s going to be more saturated - You should get started now.
10) Here is the analytics of one of the YouTube accounts I’ve grown.
ZERO paid ads, just posting the right content and following the steps in this article:
