New to ChatGPT? Here are 6 common errors most beginners make
ChatGPT is only as good as your prompts and prompts strategy. Here's a cheatsheet to help you get started:
(This is part 2 of “common mistakes people make with ChatGPT”, part 1 was released yesterday, and can be found HERE)
This article will cover 6 of the 20 common mistakes people make when using ChatGPT to make money online (and how to avoid them):
Mistake 7)
Not using ChatGPT to coach you before you start “doing the work”
Million-selling, arena-touring Musician Frank Turner once said: “I don’t worry too much about finding the perfect producer for the songs on my albums. An amazing producer can only make a terrible song mediocre”
His point?
If you bring a producer a song, he will produce it.
He will work with what you bring him.
Likewise, ChatGPT will only give you advice based on what you ask it.
Let’s say you’ve decided you want to be a coach.
You might jump in and say
“Hey Chat GPT! I’m a coach in (this niche) looking for clients in (this industry). Please send me content ideas”
Then
“Thanks Chat GPT! Now please turn the top 5 replies into short posts I can post on Facebook”
“Now please write me a sales letter selling (product) to (this audience) at (this price)
Sounds logical, right?
Well, maybe.
Problem is:
How do you know you are serving the right niche?
How do you know you are posting on the right platform? (Your audience might be more on Tiktok or Twitter than Facebook, for instance)
How do you know the type of offers that do best for that audience?
How do you know you are making the right type of audience for the right stage of your audience (e.g. lead magnet/low ticket ebook to get initial customers, coaching clients if you have an established brand, high-ticket clients immediately if you have serious experience with big clients)
Do you see the point?
It does not matter how hard you work if you’re working on the wrong things.
Use ChatGPT as your coach before you start.
The example below is taken from my “How to 10x your personal brand” book, which is an ESSENTIAL read if you want to grow your brand or you’re a coach/consultant. Email me if you’re interested in getting it!
Using ChatGPT as a coach to fine-tune your personal brand before launching
So in this example,
you’re going to use ChatGPT as your branding coach to help you design (and refine, if you have a brand already) your personal brand.
Why do you need to use ChatGPT?
Why can’t you just “get started” isn’t that the key in business? Speed?
Yes. But remember, ChatGPT moves FAST. You can do all of the below in an afternoon.
But let’s start with what could happen if you *DON’T* use ChatGPT for your personal brand.
Common mistakes people who start personal brands make:
Starting from a place of “I like this person, I’m going to be like that” - Copycats never get traction. Fine to be inspired, but you have to be YOU. Sounds very “woo woo” but if it’s not in alignment with who you are, you won’t stick with it. This is not going to an office job and daydreaming all day, this is YOU, YOUR FACE, PERSONAL, if you’re distant, don’t show up, feel awkward, it will show up.
Likewise, chasing clicks/trends if it’s not in alignment, and doing anything for attention. People can see through this.
They create content “When they feel like it”. They don’t have systems, they don’t change/repost old content, so they have gaps where they don’t post. Consistency is more important than having amazing, occasional content when you’re starting out. Like Gary Vaynerchuk said “People ask me about quality vs quantity in your content, which is more important? The answer is: Both, when you get started- Then over time see what works well with your audience and do more of that and less of the other stuff over time
Too brand-safe. You’re gonna need to take a stand on things. Corporations can’t afford to take risks, you can. Ideally you take time to list the things your audience loves, and “throw rocks at the enemies your audience hates” All the best personal brands have enemies - Elon Musk & Jordan Peterson being great examples
Ignoring Facebook. It’s the cheat code for growing a personal brand.
Being scared to ask their audience for money. You can ask for money sooner than you think. Some people wait a year to have a paid plan on their Substack (blog w/ paid subscriptions) . I launched my paid plan before the blog was even live. You need to feel confident you are bringing value
Being afraid of being a nuisance. Remember, it’s never spam if you’re adding value.
Not understanding the assets you have. Every social media account you have, and everyone you’ve ever emailed, are a lottery ticket. If you reach out to all of them every time you’re doing something of note, you’ll be amazed how many are happy to hear from you, and will subscribe/follow you, buy your new book.
Choosing the wrong offer to sell to people. More on that later, but in terms of making money, this is the SINGLE HARDEST THING you have to decide how to do as a personal brand.
All the usual things that could go wrong when starting a business PLUS not understanding that the more personal you are the more successful you will be, and this is a different energy from, again, working for someone else, or building a company and doing occasional interviews. This is PERSONAL. EMOTIONAL. YOU!
So, if you are going to use chatGPT to fine-tune your personal brand, you’ll be typing prompts into ChatGPT.
With all prompts, remember:
> The more detailed you are, the better.
> Don’t be afraid to ask it to give it a second go if you don’t think the first result is amazing. Likewise, keep asking it to refine answers if you’re not happy.
So let’s get into it.
This guide is not about what should be in your personal brand, but how to refine it once you have an idea of your personal brand BUT remember ChatGPT can be your coach to help you create your personal brand!
So depending on how little or much you know about what your personal brand is, you can start from the very top with very broad commands, or start further down the list if you have an idea and/or are already set up.
So, from beginner to expert, here are the prompts to type into ChatGPT to help you create a personal brand with the biggest chances of making you money!
Anything in (brackets) indicates choose one or type in your answer
(either side of the / line) before writing it into ChatGPT.
1)
If you don’t know where to start:
Hi ChatGPT! I want to start, grow, and monetise my personal brand. I’d like it to be (a side hustle/my full time job). In terms of industry, I think it could be (industry or industries)
In terms of my personal interests I could create personal content on, they are (interests 1,2,3 e.g. sports, family, music, technology, crypto, ChatGPT, dating etc). My skills are (skill 1,2, and 3, e.g. running ads, copywriting, community building etc). My previous includes working at (companies, niches, etc). Success would look like (Making an extra $500 per month, this being my full time job making $5,000 per month, building a company that I eventually outsource all parts of and sell within 5 years, getting clients, etc). Please talk me through what you think I would do best as a personal brand, and feel free to ask questions if you need more clarity.
2)
Once you’re set:
Hi ChatGPT! I would like to be a personal brand in the (niche/industry.) I think my target market is (target market 1, 2, etc) I would like this to be my (side hustle/full time job/career). My skills are (skills) and my experience is (previous experience). Please talk me through what you think my first steps should be to bring the personal brand to life. For possible reference, I am thinking the first 3 things I need to do are (1,2, and 3, e.g. choose my unique selling point/brand themes, choose which platforms I’ll be focusing on making content on, creating a content plan, choosing what to make content about). My budget to grow this brand is (zero/$500 a month, whatever)
3)
From here, you can start to go deep on specific segments.
I’d say you need to know:
> Ideas for your personal brand to be unique, in what you sell, or content style, or personality
> Your niche
> how you plan to grow your brand (likely through content)
> What you plan to sell
If you keep it all in one thread inside ChatGPT, it will remember previous answers so you don’t need to remind it each time of all the details.
At this point you should be telling it what you plan to do and getting its feedback.
So it might look something like the following prompts:
Mistake 8)
Not asking for feedback on, or telling ChatGPT, your unique offering/angle on each post
(It will give generic answers if you don’t)
So continuing the “ChatGPT being the coach to setup your personal brand example, check out the prompt below
(You don’t need to put all of the previous info into ChatGPT each time if you are in the same chat, I just wanted to make sure you knew I wrote prompts when I italicized these sections!)
I plan to make a unique brand through (idea, 1,2 and/or 3). My hope is that (my target market) likes it, and this leads me to growing an audience who will buy from me. Please critique my unique brand ideas, and offer me 5 new related ideas that I may not have considered
Mistake 9)
Not reminding ChatGPT what your niche is in each thread
As ever, Chat GPT gives GENERIC ANSWERS UNLESS YOU TELL IT NOT TO.
So remind it ! (Once you’ve told it in a chat thread, you don’t need to put it in every prompt, it will generally remember, if a ChatGPT reply looks like it's for the wrong niche, remind it and it will fix it)
YOUR NICHE
I am operating in (your niche here). I plan to stand out by (idea, 1,2, and/or 3).
Talk me through the challenges I am going to face in this niche, and solutions to try and “proof” me from my brand not cutting through and helping me achieve my goal of (making $500 a month/having this be my full-time job).
Mistake 10)
Not contextualizing your answer with your long-term vision for the product, service, or brand you are asking it questions about
Your advice from a business coach/mentor would be different based on your goals.
For instance, if you have an audience, there are two ways to make money:
Send them offer after offer selling products/services - You will make more money faster, but you will burn your audience out, and it won’t last long term. In internet marketing, this would be releasing an affiliate offer or new eBook every week, for instance.
Make less offers. You will make less money, but your audience will last longer and likely make you more in the long term. In internet marketing, this means doing three or four BIG launches per year, with elaborate launch processes and affiliates to push the offer to squeeze the most out of these events.
Basically, you tell ChatGPT HOW YOU PLAN TO GROW YOUR BRAND
I plan to grow my personal brand for (my niche) through (idea 1,2 and/or 3). Talk me through the challenges I am going to focus in this niche while growing my brand, and solutions to try and “proof” me from my brand not growing and helping me achieve my goal of (making $500 a month/having this be my full-time job).
And WHAT YOU PLAN TO SELL
I plan to monetise my personal brand through (these methods). Talk me through the challenges I am going to focus in this niche while trying to make money, and provide me solutions to try and “proof” me from my brand not achieving my goal of (making $500 a month/having this be my full-time job).
You get the idea 🙂
Keep asking and refining until you feel confident you have a personal brand you believe has a great chance of success!
Mistake 11)
Asking it too many rapid questions, or too many questions in the same prompt
Split them up into different chat prompts for better answers, it will ignore or under-answer certain questions and over-respond to others.
Mistake 12)
Asking it to create multiple detailed replies in the same reply
ChatGPT can only respond with up to 2048 characters.
So if you wanted it to create a month’s worth of content, the prompts would be something like
Prompt 1: (detailed prompt about target niche, audience, etc) and “send me 10 headlines”
(If you were happy with the answers, continue as below)
Prompt 2: Please write me the blogpost for the first idea you had (I would copy and paste that idea here for clarity) Depending on word length, you might want to say “Use as many of your 2048 character limit as possible” or “This is for a tweet, and we don’t want people to click “read more”, so please limit your response to 280 characters”
(and if you were happy with that one, you would continue through the list)
Prompt 3: Please write me the blogpost for the first idea you had (I would copy and paste that idea here again for clarity)
– etc etc
Not telling ChatGPT the most important part of a detailed response
You must always tell ChatGPT what to focus on when it replies.
For instance, if it’s a sales email or a landing page, it needs to focus on creating an incredible title and next line, because if those are generic and not catchy, people will not continue to read the email or landing page.

Getting all of that in front of them showds you have done your homework, and will increase the likelihood you get a reply/meeting massively.
Remember, you are one of the first to find out about these methods that I’ve been studying for months now. In a few months time? I predict most, if not ALL marketers will be using these methods - So get in now ahead of the others and build your business the easy way!

ChatGPT isn’t just a tool to make you money.
It can become your personal assistant, coach, planner, and much much more.
In this guide, I’ve compiled 25 ways to use ChatGPT that could seriously upskill your life!
In summary:
This is a revolutionary technology that can be pointed at an industry in the world & give you an unfair advantage.
Chat-GPT isn’t a “trick” or “industry secret”.
Chat-GPT can be applied to EVERYTHING.
Let’s say for instance, me and my agency wanted to keep the secrets to ourselves for sales copywriting using Chat-GPT.
Every business in the world needs sales copy.
Even if we wanted to, we couldn’t create a business to service every business in the world!
“Get rich quick” only works for a small number of people.
E.g. the people who got in early in crypto/NFT’s now own the majority of *all* crypto and valuable NFT’s in the world.
Likewise, dropshipping & dropshipping courses - Those who got in early took most of the money.
Again for those at the back!
Chat-GPt isn’t a “thing”.
Chat-GPT can be used on EVERYTHING.
You might want to help Dentists across America write better newsletters, social media copy, and ad copy - And you might be the first person to use Chat-GPT to do that.
You might want to use Chat-GPT to write SEO blog copy for small-to-medium sized businesses across the midwest USA. That’s a huge market but also may be one that not many people are thinking about, so you could own that niche.
Hence, Chat-GPT is not a “scheme” - It’s a tool you can use to make money with the industry you work in, or have an interest in.
This is the most useful product I have ever sold, and this entire Substack will transform to bring you ChatGPT/A.I. opportunities every day.
Grab my book bundle and let’s begin this journey together.
