People love to talk about what doesn’t work…
It takes no effort to write something off, and because most things in business are hard to execute if you don’t know how to do them/don’t try hard enough, these cynics are often “right”.
When you look in the mirror, do you see an innovator or a follower?
Easier to be a follower.
Less people might laugh at you.
But followers rarely win big.
Let’s start with a dumb myth like “Facebook is dead”.
The truth is, if a platform has tens of millions of users, and you can post into their network, there are *always* opportunities.
People love to play conspiracy theorist about the mysterious “algorithm”,
Rather than work out how to make the platform work as it changes it’s rules.
If you followed me early in my career, a lot of my message was about creating your own content to grow your brand.
This was back when everyone got good reach for their posts.
Over time, the quality of content got better, and short form video became the preferred content medium for the world.
The problem is: Making a “Tiktok” is VERY DIFFERENT to a tweet, a photo, even a video.
As many of you have found out, TikTok’s have a tight formula that is easy to watch but difficult to replicate at scale.
In all honesty, part of the reason I started looking into reposting other peoples’ videos is I didn’t wanna be a “talking head” barking at the camera.
There’s a good chance if you’re reading this text (!) you are not someone who creates 3-5 Tiktok-style short form videos per day.
The solution is to build your brand around “DJ’ing” other peoples’ content.
Reposting popular content in your niche (with credit) is the fastest way to grow an account with a relevant audience who are likely to buy from you.
